Ladies & Gentlemen,
As the Chairman of the New Brunswick Sportsfishing Association I would like to personally thank some people and congratulate others for their efforts and their victory at last weekend’s “first Annual Dennis Wilson Memorial Tournament”:
First and foremost I would like to thank the Wilson family for their contribution towards the NBSFA and an annual bass fishing tournament to remember the legacy of a fine smallmouth fisherman, namely Dennis Wilson. Personally I would like to thank both Greg Wilson for being a part of the closing ceremonies and Mark Alward and Greg Wilson for sitting down with me earlier in the year and working out the details of this terrific tournament;
Secondly I would like to express my sincere round of applause and congrats to both Rick Greene & Phil Barrett for their victorious win over 52 other teams coming from Nova Scotia, PEI and of course all corners of New Brunswick. Congratulations gentlemen, you guys are the first winners of an annual event which should continue to draw large numbers of great smallmouth fishermen and fisherwomen: and
Finally I would like to thank our tournament staff headed up by Jimmy Munn as well as the other 105 fishermen and women who fished this spectacular event.
In closing, this event is by far the largest event the province has seen in many years, the first place prize of $10,000.00 exceeds ALL sanctioned bass tournaments given the entry fee and number of boats who participated.
Thank you once again and congratulations to Rick, Phil and all the others who participated in this tournament.
Bert Beek,
Chairman, NBSFA

Although the weather was poor, the fishing was decent for the brave children that braved the wind and rain yesterday during our NBSFA Annual Kids Tournament. We finished with 32 children and a couple of dozen adults searching for smallmouth bass, chain pickerel and perch. Most, if not all of the children found at least one species and was able to weigh them in. There was one smallmouth at 19 inches which any smallmouth fisherman would take any day.
The Children enjoyed themselves with hot dogs and hamburgers, cake provided by Blair & Cathy Boone as well as lots of refreshments, prizes, medallions and trophies for the top winners. Congratulations to everyone who participated.
I would like to take this opportunity and thank a number of folks as well as great sponsors for their contribution towards another very successful NBSFA Kids Tournament. Thanks goes to the following people:
Rosaline Cormier, Rick Greene, Andrew Oliver, Blair & Cathy Boone, Jen Sheils, Larry Sandford, Eddie & Kyle Watling, Don Bishop and finally Bryant Morrice.
As well, many thanks to our wonderful sponsors to include: Plaza Group Management, Darmar Flies & Tackle, Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, NBWTF, Berkley (Pure Fishing), Lucky Strike, Canadian Tire Fredericton (north side), Gray Bar, Victory Meats, Ben Stokdijk – Lindsay Construction, Nelson Ayotte, Dave Matheson, Rodney Gallant from PEI, Blair & Kathy Boone & Scott’s Nursery. “Thank you very very much for your contribution towards this very worthwhile venture, it’s much appreciated”
Concluding, I hope to see all of the children plus some good weather next year.
Thank you
Bert Beek,
Chairman, NBSFA
